Anjali Munjal, Profiled By Influential Women, Drives Product Innovation Through Resilience And Strong Customer Focus

ACTON, MA, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- A 27-Year Technology Career Defined by Product Leadership, Continuous Learning, and a Commitment to Mentoring the Next Generation

Acton, Massachusetts – Anjali Munjal, Director of Product Management at NetApp, has built a distinguished 27-year career in technology by combining technical expertise, business understanding, resilience, and a strong commitment to customer-focused innovation. Specializing in data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions, she brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the development of technologies designed to address real-world challenges and strengthen data resilience.

Anjali began her professional career as a computer engineer in 1999. Over the course of more than two decades with Dell EMC, she developed extensive experience across engineering and product management. Her transition into product management came after she earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst while working full-time and raising a young family. She had recognized the importance of expanding beyond the technical aspects of product development to gain a deeper understanding of customers, business needs, and the broader technology landscape.

That decision became an important turning point in her professional journey. The MBA helped change her career trajectory and gave her a broader perspective on product strategy and leadership. For Anjali, the experience also reinforced one of her most important beliefs: learning remains valuable regardless of a person’s stage in life or career.

Today, as Director of Product Management at NetApp, Anjali is responsible for defining product vision, shaping strategic roadmaps, and translating customer and market insights into actionable requirements for large engineering organizations. Her role requires her to work across the entire product ecosystem, connecting customers, engineering, sales, marketing, support, and executive leadership.

Her ability to bridge technical and business audiences has been central to her work. By understanding both the technology behind a solution and the needs of the people who ultimately use it, she works to ensure products provide measurable value. Throughout her career, she has led high-impact product launches, supported market expansion initiatives, and contributed to the development of innovative technologies focused on data resilience and business continuity.

Behind Anjali’s professional accomplishments is a personal story shaped by resilience. She attributes her success to inner strength and the ability to continue moving forward through difficult circumstances. Her path has included significant personal challenges, including experiencing a miscarriage with twins and supporting her mother through stage 4 breast cancer around the time her first child was born. Her mother passed away two months after the birth of Anjali’s elder son.

During that period, Anjali asked her company if she could work half-time while managing her family circumstances. She was told that she would need to work full-time or quit. Rather than leaving her career, she lifted herself and continued working full-time. She went on to grow professionally and eventually become a director, something she considers a significant source of pride after everything she experienced along the way.

Anjali also credits family support as an important part of her journey. While pursuing her MBA, her husband was traveling, requiring both of them to step up at different times to manage family responsibilities. Balancing education, career, and family was demanding, but the experience reinforced her belief that resilience and support can help people continue through periods when giving up may seem easier.

Her commitment to education was itself encouraged by advice she received during a mid-career period when she was considering whether to pursue an MBA. With two children and a full-time job, Anjali was uncertain about taking on such a demanding commitment. A colleague in his 40s asked her whether she expected to work for the next 20 years. When she answered yes, he encouraged her to consider the MBA worthwhile if she would be working for that long.

Anjali followed that advice. The following four years were challenging, as she balanced work and family responsibilities with studying late at night and spending weekends on coursework. Yet completing the degree ultimately changed her career perception and trajectory. The experience strengthened her belief that it is never too late to learn.

She now encourages others to approach education with the same mindset. Rather than looking back years later and wishing they had pursued an opportunity, she believes people should take the plunge and never lose a chance to learn. To Anjali, learning is a blessing and an investment that can continue paying dividends throughout a career.

Continuous learning is one of several values that guide Anjali in both her professional and personal life. Creativity, family, and cultural awareness are equally important to her. Her interest in creativity dates back to childhood, when she developed a deep passion for painting and art. During high school, her artistic achievements earned recognition from the Vice President of India.

Her creative interests continued into college, where she designed posters for college festivals. More than 100 copies of one of her designs were displayed across campuses, giving her another opportunity to combine artistic expression with communication.

Travel has also played an important role in developing Anjali’s perspective. She enjoys exploring different countries with her family, using those experiences to discover diverse cultures, broaden their perspectives, and learn from people around the world. These experiences have contributed to her appreciation for cultural awareness and meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds.

Alongside her product leadership responsibilities, Anjali has remained committed to supporting other professionals. She is a former chair and member of Advancing Women in Tech and has been involved with the Boston chapter. She has also mentored aspiring product managers and supported professionals navigating career transitions into leadership roles.

Her approach to mentorship reflects the lessons that have shaped her own career. Anjali understands that professional growth is not always linear and that major transitions can require persistence, education, and the willingness to step outside familiar territory. Through mentorship, she seeks to help others recognize opportunities, develop their capabilities, and move forward with greater confidence.

With a career spanning 27 years, Anjali continues to combine technical knowledge, product strategy, creativity, and customer understanding in her work. Her journey from computer engineering to product management leadership demonstrates the value she places on adaptability and lifelong learning. At NetApp, she remains focused on developing solutions that address important challenges in data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity while contributing to the growth of future technology leaders.

For Anjali, the journey has never been defined by the absence of obstacles. Instead, it has been shaped by the decision to keep moving forward through them. Her experiences have reinforced the importance of resilience, family support, education, creativity, and continuous growth—principles that continue to influence both her leadership and the impact she seeks to make across the technology industry.
